You forgot the part about Abu Bakr ordering recompiling of the Qur'an and for the copy created to be stored with him, then Umar, and then Uthman who ordered it copied and distributed and any competing texts (i.e. copies of the original Qur'an compiled under Muhammad) destroyed.
